Course Aims
The Certificate IV in Hairdressing has been designed to expand the
development of the complex technical skills and knowledge of
hairdressing practitioners.
Likely functions in the hairdressing industry for those who achieve this
qualification may include employment as a highly skilled hairdresser,
working as part of a salon team or coordinating a salon team; a
technical adviser with a hairdressing products company; or
independently as a freelance session stylist. Functions at this level
include the self-directed application of a broad range of knowledge and
skills and the provision of technical leadership, training and support to
colleagues. A hairdresser at this level may provide specialist services,
including hair cutting, hair design, hair colouring, complex colour
correction, hair extensions, chemical reformation, trichology and
make-up application.
Course Structure
Participants need to complete eleven (11) units of competency,
consisting of:
Seven (7) core units
Four (4) elective units from the elective unit list

Prerequisites:
Successful completion of Year 11 or equivalent AND;
Certificate IV requires successful completion of Certificate III in Hairdressing;
International students: English language skills at least equivalent to
IELTS 5.5 OR IELTS 5.0 with maximum 20 weeks ELICOS course OR
Advanced level at Ozford English Language Centre
