Description
This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) environment for public TAFE or private sector. Achievement of this qualification or an equivalent by trainers and assessors is a mandatory requirement for trainers and/or assessors delivering nationally recognised training programs. Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive a nationally recognised qualification and have the skills and knowledge to perform the role of a skilled trainer, facilitator and assessor within a workplace as well as in a Vocational Education and Training environment in public TAFE or private VET sector.
Course Aims
This course is for people who are interested to become trainers and/or assessors or use training skills in their chosen employment. Learners may or may not have some experience and/or familiarity with design, delivery or assessment and the training environment. The aim is to enable candidates to develop skills in working in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) environment, training design and delivery and assessment. This qualification is mandatory for trainers delivering nationally recognised training programs.

Prerequisite Requirements
There are no prerequisite requirements for individual units of competency.
Assessment
The achievement of competence will be assessed by a range of methods aiming at maximum flexibility and customisation to address specific needs and leaning situations; assessment methods may include:
- Observation of ongoing activities
- Presentation of portfolios
- Role plays
- Observation of group discussion
Candidates will undertake informal assessment on an ongoing basis. This assessment will be used by the trainer to monitor candidate progress and to provide appropriate feedback. The informal assessments do not contribute to the results achieved by a learner. Learners should be aware that all competency based tasks must be completed by the submission due date.
Requirements to Receive the Qualification
To receive a qualification, students are required to successfully complete all units of competence for the qualification.
